Can you put a password on a shared photo album?
Short answer
Yes. In Kins, an "Invited only" album can have a 6-digit entry PIN. Anyone joining with the invite link has to enter it; members already inside are never asked.
Set a PIN
- When you create an album, keep "Who can see it" on "Invited only" and turn on "Entry PIN (optional)". For an album you already have, go to Album settings → Entry PIN.
- Choose 6 digits and enter them once more to confirm.
- Send the invite link, and share the PIN separately, by phone or in person.
- New people tap the link, sign in with Apple or Google, and enter the 6 digits to join.

How the PIN works
| Without a PIN | With a PIN | |
|---|---|---|
| Someone with the invite link | Can join | Needs the 6 digits too |
| Members already in the album | Not asked | Not asked |
| Wrong guesses | — | After a few wrong tries, they have to wait a few minutes |
Good to know
- PINs work only on "Invited only" albums. Switch an album to "View by link" or "Anyone" and the PIN turns off.
- It’s not the same as a locked album on your phone. That hides photos on one phone; an entry PIN guards an album several people share.
- "Invited only" albums never show up in search engines.
